It is not really a animal friendly festival but  every year at end of September or begin October there is the "Hercules (Kwang) Beetle Festival" in Pua in Nan province, North Thailand. The Hercules’s Beetle is a bug commonly found in Pua District, named ‘Fighter of the Mountains’ due to its fighting habits. The festival is aimed at conserving the local tradition, particularly Hercules’s Beetle fighting. During the festival are also shown other local community traditions like silverware production and local woven textile from nearby hill-tribe people.
