The mountains of Phu Fa were originally famous for poppy fields for the production of opium but nowadays famous for its Royal Project to help the people living an sustainable life in the mountains. With the help of this project there is now production of tea, coffee and herbal products that are sold all over Thailand. There is an HQ with coffee shop, small museum and of course a stunning view over the mountains with in the background Laos. Visiting is best to be done on your way to / from Bo Klua. How to get to Phu Fa Royal Project?
By private car or motorbike. The easiest way is to go first to Bo Klua via route 101 and 1256. Then a bit south via route 1081 and then take route 1333 to Phu Fa. You could also go via route 1170 from Tha Wang Pha and follow the signs for Phu Fa. In this way you will enter route 1081 from the other side. And then take also route 1333 to Phu Fa.By public transport you would first have to go to Pua, change for Bo Klua and then change for private transport to Phu Fa (23km).
