The Wat Nong Deang on the outskirts of Chiang Klang in Nan province is an Tai Lue style temple probably build in 1787. Of course it has been renovated many times in the years, the last time in 1996. Within the temple is an Buddha image on a base with at the backside beautiful (old?) murals. The temple still has its original style wooden roof and as you see beautiful decorated poles.
Around the temple are meeting halls and living quarters of the monks and in the garden is a special tree with the name "candle tree" as the fruit of the tree look like candles hanging in the tree. This temple is not really highlight to travel specially to Chiang Klang, but if you are there it is a very nice local place to visit. Not yet overrun by tourists. Once you are in Chiang Klang it is easy to find the temple as there are signs for "Wat Nong Deang". For more information about Nan province see Destination Travel Guide Nan.
