Nanthaburi National Park, also sometimes written as Nantha Buri, is located along a dead-end road into the mountains bordering Phayao province. Besides hiking in the jungle the 2 main attractions of the park are the viewpoints. The first one is at the HQ of the park. The second more famous one is called Doi Wao, about 4 km from the HQ of the park. At both places are camping grounds and are great for watching sunrise. How to get to Nanthaburi National Park?
By private car or motorbike follow route 101 from Nan town to Tha Wang Pha, there take route 1148 in direction of Chiang Rai. After about 10 km you will see signs to the left for Nanthaburi National Park. Follow the main road for another 20 km into the mountains, then there will be a sign to the right. From here on it is about 1.500m a kind of dirt road partly with cement or gravel. Not recommended in the raining season.There is no public transport to Nanthaburi National Park, although you could take the bus to Tha Wang Pha and from there charter a songtheauw.
