Visiting the Wat Ton Laeng in Pua

Wat Ton Laeng in Pua, North Thailand

The Wat Ton Laeng was build in the 19th century in Tai Lue architecture and has a bit unusual roof build like it are 3 roofs on top of each other. It is a small temple with a front entrance flanked by 2 dragons. Also inside it is beautiful traditional decorated and there is a huge sitting golden Buddha image calling earth as witness. Of course this temple did not always look like now, as a matter a fact long time ago the temple was abandoned for a 3 years due to flooding. After that the temple was rebuild and between 1950 en 1962 the temple was renovated, making brick walls instead of wood.

If you like architecture visiting this temple is highly recommended as it is build in a very special architecture. And luckily it is renovated in almost original style. Not many people visit this beautiful temple in Pua. Actually Pua is a lovely upcountry small town with many things to see.

The Wat Ton Laeang is open all year around, daily from 8:00 - 17:00 and entrance is free. The Wat Ton Laeng is located in Ban Ton Laeng, a village of Pua town. Pua town is about 60 km north of Nan town in North Thailand.

If you like to experience the slow life & culture of Pua in Nan province, then come and stay a few days at Non Na Pua Boutique Homestay.  Following are some photo I took, click on the photo to enlarge.
