A recurring question from travelers to Thailand is “Do I need a travel-adapter?”. The short answer is “No” but it depends a bit on the country you are coming from. Let’s explain this.
Nowadays in Thailand most plugs are like in picture A or picture B (with flat poles). And almost all wall outlets are like Type B. In the old days most plugs were like in picture A and logical-wise almost all wall outlets were like Type A.
The wall outlets nowadays can be used for plugs with flat poles and for plugs with round poles. And even plugs with or without a round grounding pin. That means plugs like in picture C and picture D can be used also. But if you come from an exotic country where plugs like in picture E are used then you will need a travel-adaptor.
That all said …. nowadays people are traveling with many electrical devices that need to be recharged. And many hotel rooms have limited wall outlets, or on weird places. So when I am traveling I always have a small lightweight power-strip )with 1.5m cord) with me.
And before I forget .... the current is between 220volt and 230volt.
