Visiting the mountains of Ban Manipruek

Sunrise at Thung Chang, Thailand

We did stay in Thung Chang and the next day we made a day trip to the beautiful mountain range behind Thung Chang (about 80 km north of Nan town). High into this mountain range is a beautiful valley where the ancestors of Hmong people are living. In the old days the mountains were used for poppy plantations, nowadays it are vegetables. It is stunning beautiful and relatively untouched area on Nan province. As it limestone mountains there are also many caves in this area. Also the deepest cave of Thailand. We did visit the entrance of the cave (difficult to find as there are no signs) but as there are no trails or lights we did not go inside. I love the area and for sure I will be back here soon!
