Walking at Wang Sila Leang in Pua

Destination Travel Guide Nan, Thailand

Wang Sila Leang is where the Kwang Khun River exits the mountains & jungle of Doi Phu Kha National Park. It is easy to reach, just go to Baan Hua Nam Mushroom Farm park your car, have a drink & snack and then walk the last 500m to the beginning of Wang Sila Leang. It is dubbed to be the Grand Canyon on Nan but then of course in a much smaller scale. Best time to visit is in the dry season when the water level is low. There are 2 options, the first one is to climb down into the river and then walk thru the river. But the climbing down is a bit not so safe. The other option is to follow the walking trail on the left side. Be aware that this also involved a little bit climbing and that the trail is not always safely secured. Photo above is the entrance, photos below are made following the walking trail for about 500m. Come and enjoy the slow life of Pua and stay a few days at Non Na Pua Homestay.

When to go to Wang Sila Leang Grand Canyon?

All year around, daily. But best to be visited at the end or the during the dry season from January to April.

Where to go?

7 km east of Pua town.

How to get there?

Best with your own transport. From Pua follow route 1081 for about 6 km until the village Ban Hua Nam. Go into the village and from there you will have to walk for about 1 km or take a dirt road between the rice fields.
