Travel Tips about Wai Phra That Festivals in Nan province

The Wai Phra That are festivals paying respect to the important "phra thats" temples and are being held all over Thailand. The tradition is to make merit, offer food & fruit to the monks and to worship Buddhist relics. In Nan province these festivals are at 4 different temples and at of course 4 different times of the year :
  • Namatsakan Phrathat Beng Sakat Festival is being held in January in Pua
  • Hok Peng Waisa Mahathat Chae Haen Festival at Wat Phra That Chea Heang is being held in February / March in Nan town Especially for people born in the year of the rabbit.
  • Namatsakan Phrathat Khao Noi Festival at Wat Khao Noi is being held in May in Nan town
  • Namatsakan Song Nam Phrachao Thongthip Festival at Wat Suan Tan is being held in April together with Thai New Year in Nan town
