In November 2012 I did stay at the Mae Nam Hotel, it is a bit older hotel but located right along the banks of the Mekong river and within walking distance of the restaurants that setup in the evening along the river. So it is all about location. The hotels has about 32 rooms all with airco, private bathroom with warm-water, fridge and TV. The rooms are small and old fashioned but clean. The bathroom is very small. But it costs only 400 thb. They do have private parking and free wifi. Next to the hotel is a restaurant with outdoor & indoor seating.
