In 2017 I did stay a day in Nakhon Phanom, what is a a small city along the mighty Mekong River. Nakhon Phanom has a cultural heritage from the colonial French time of Laos & Vietnam. It is also a gate-way to Laos and Vietnam. In the past via a ferry crossing the Mekong River, but nowadays via the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge just north of the city. Along the river are a few restaurants and hotels. The city center with some small restaurants and some small bars is near and around the "Vietnamese Clock tower". Photo above the former residency of the governor of Nakhon Phanom and currently a museum. If you like some help with organizing your holiday anywhere in Thailand send me an email at The Little Elephant Traveling in Thailand.
