When you are in Lampang in North Thailand you should visit the old town by horse carriage. It goes slow as the life in downtown Lampang still is. It is a great way to see the real Lampang with the many old temples and houses. And if you understand a bit Thai the driver will inform and tell you about Lampang. Remark : You might consider using a horse for transport a form of animal abuse, but personally I think the owners take very well care of their horse and do not abuse the horse for riding faster.
