The Mekong River is at 2 parts the border between Thailand and Laos. The first part is in North Thailand and the second part is in Northeast Thailand. Photo above is in North Thailand where the Mekong River starts to be the border at Chiang Saen in North Thailand, also infamous called the "Golden Triangle". From here the Mekong River is the border between Thailand and Laos until the Mekong River flows into Laos. The photo under is where the Mekong River flows into Laos and stops to be the border between Laos and Thailand. In Laos this creates a weird part of Laos, a kind of peninsular with on the west side a mountain range and border with Thailand (no border crossings) and on the east side the Mekong River (no bridges). At the last Thai part along the Mekong River is a kind of military base & police station with a beautiful garden and a Coffee Shop of course. At the end of the road there is a little walking path that will lead you to the real border-line with Laos (or you end-up in Laos).
