An old suspension bridge in Hat Pha Kon

Destination Travel Guide Nan, Thailand

The expression TIT stands for This Is Thailand and is used for things that are typically Thai. In my serie This Is Thailand (see label) here a photo taken a few years ago and you might be wondering what that is hanging over the Nan River in the small village Hat Pha Kon in Nan province. Well it is an old suspension bridge for people and following Thai safety standards it is not removed although it is not in use anymore already for many years. About 50m from this old suspension bridge is a brand new road for cars and people. What reminded me of the fact that you see many times a new building (house / temple / bridge / toilets) with the old one still next to it. Why? Too lazy to take the old one away? Or is there a cultural thing about not demolishing the old one?
