A trip from Pua to Ban Wen in the rain

In August 2021 we made a trip from Pua to Ban Wen in the mountains of Doi Phu Kha. It is "only" about 80 km one-way but going into the mountains with curve after curve after curve. And to a hight of 1.715m, that is about 1.500m higher as Pua! So first route 1256 from Pua to Bo Klua, where you are passing Doi Phu Kha National Park, Lan Du Dao Viewpoint and Phu Kha 1715 Viewpoint. Most people would stop in Bo Klua and visit the famous Ancient Salt Pits, but as we have been there many times we did skip this. After Bo Klua we took route 1081 in direction of Huai Kon. But a bit after Bo Klua we made a stop at Arpo De Marn Coffee Shop what is also a resort. From here you have a stunning view over the valley north of Bo Klua. Delicious hot choco was served, highly recommended!

From there we did drive to the Ban Wen viewpoint where we did sit & relax and had a drink & snack that we took with us. After that we continued to Ban Wen where we explored the little village. After that we did drive back to Bo Klua and back to Pua. On the way back we stopped at Lan Do Dao Viewpoint where is an also a coffee shop where local hill-tribe girls are working. They served a delicious hot green tea. Behind the coffee shop is a camping ground and viewpoint. A lovely day out in this times of the COVID19 crisis in Thailand.
