In August 2022 I did travel in Europe and after 2 weeks it was time to fly back to Bangkok and from Bangkok back to home sweet home in Nan province. Following is a Just Back Report of my jeurney from Don Muang Airport to Nan Nakhon Airport with in between information that might help you when traveling in Thailand. I was flying with Air Asia this time and my flight was in the afternoon. About 2½ hour before flight I took a taxi to Don Muang Airport and when I arrived I could smoothly and quickly check-in at the Air Asia counters at the Domestic Terminal of Don Muang Airport. Friendly service of Air Asia staff and check-in took me about 1 minuut. Mind you you there is also an International Terminal at Don Muang Airport!
Don Muang Airport during the aftermath of the Corona Crisis?
Well as you can see on the photo's below the International Terminal was pretty dead when I was there. And the Domestic Terminal was far from busy when I was there. So no cue's and everything did go smooth. But at September 2022 you will still have to be wearing a face-mask. Not only in the airport but also in the airplane. I walked a bit around and noticed that many shops and restaurants are closed or simply totally gone.
My flight with Air Asia to Nan Nakhon Airport was smooth and beautiful. Unfortunately I was not sitting at the window but the view over the green mountains of Nan province when we were descending was stunning! Arrival at Nan Nakhon Airport is great, just walk over the tarmac to the arrival gate and wait a few minutes for your luggage. When we landed the sky was opening after a short rain, beautiful!
