In October 2022 I was on one of my Getting Lost walking trips in Bangkok and at a few points I walked right along the Chao Phraya River. For me the Chao Phraya River is the real Bangkok. When I was there there water level of the Chao Phraya was very high. So high that flooding of nearby parts were to expected. Actually north of Bangkok there was already a lot of flooding along the Chao Phraya River.
Although the Chao Phraya River almost yearly overflows I have never really seen it myself like this. Shops at streets along the Chao Phraya were closed and they did put sandbags in front to stop the coming flooding. Some parts of the streets or parkings were flooded. And normally the walking bridges to a floating pier (for the express boat) goes down. But now the floating pier ponton is so high that the bridge goes up! Following are some more photos of the Chao Phraya River, click on the photos to enlarge. For more about the Chao Phraya River click on the label Chao Phraya River.
