Chai Nat is 1 of the 77 provinces of Thailand and located along the Chao Phraya River about 200km north of Bangkok An insignificant province that most people will be passing by train or car via route 1 or route 32. It is a nice province, with all the rivers & klongs it is full of rice fields. And in the smaller villages you will still find traditional Thai lifestyle. Chai Nat is famous for its Bird Park (the largest in Thailand) and famous for a beautiful old Police Station. And there are enough accommodations (from cheap hotels to boutique home-stays), restaurants and pub’s. But when going to Chai Nat and staying there, your own transport is needed! Chai Nat is a nice stepping stone on the way to/from Sukhothai. We used Chai Nat twice as stop-over to/from South Thailand and as we were traveling with our dog we did choose a dog-friendly accommodation.
The first time we did stay at Baan Bhu Hanga Resort. This resort has about 20 air-conditioned rooms, private parking and serving a simple Thai style breakfast. The resort is located near the Chao Phraya and within 15min drive from the highway.

On recommendations we had diner right along the Chao Phraya River at Samrap Kab Khao Riverside Restaurant & Coffee Shop, with both indoor & outdoor seating. Great food & lovely place for diner. Highly recommended!

The second time we did stay at Baan Ton Jaeng Resort Hotel, located along a canal (klong, but it looks more like an old river). This resort has about 15 small bungalows in a nice garden with trees. But do not stay in room 1 or 2 (near the road). This resort also has a Coffee Shop right along the canal and it is within 10min drive from the highway.
