Travel Tips about Sam Roi Yot district in South Thailand

Sam Roi Yot is a district within Prachuap Khiri Khan province and is located just south of Pranburi district. Sam Roi Yot district stretches along the coast and of course includes Sam Roi Yot National Park. The name means “300 Peaks” and when you see the landscape of the karsten mountains you will understand the name. But be aware the beach here are not the kind of White Sand & Crystal Clear Sea. Almost all beaches have a beach road and most accommodation & restaurants are not on the beach. And there is no public transport, traveling with your own transport is highly recommended.

Also be aware that in Pranburi & Sam Roi Yot are quite a few dogs on the beach. They will not bother you but if you like us are traveling with a dog that is a bit aggressive this is a bit of a problem (not the other dogs but our dog).
From north to south there are the beaches :

• The bay of Ban Mai 
• Dolphin Bay with the northern part called Nong Khao Niew Beach while the southern part is called Sam Roi Yot Beach 
• Sam Roi Yot Noi Beach 
• Nom Sao Beach / Secret Beach 
• Bang Phu Beach (entrance to Phraya Nakhon Cave and point to take the boat to the next beach) 
• Lam Sala Beach (Hat Leam Sala, from where you can also go to Phraya Nakhon Cave) 
• Phraya Nakhon Beach 
• Ko Rom Thale Beach 

Be aware that some of the last beaches are part of Sam Roi Yot National Park. 

The main town along the coast (for both Pranburi & Sam Roi Yot) is Ban Pak Nam Pran (in Pranburi), at the mouth of the Pranburi River. Here you will find 7-11, Lotus, fresh market and all other shops.

All this resorts are dog-friendly and have a swimming pool. There are actually many more resorts, varying from real old & cheap to 5star luxury private villa’s.
