In March 2015 we did stay a night in Dan Sai, that is surrounded by mountains almost all around Dan Sai. After no rain for at least 3 months it is dry & hot and unfortunately many people still practice the "slash & burn" method. So in day time we could see small smoke coming from the mountains around us and in the evening we could see small fires everywhere around us. The latter was in a way a magical thing to see, but it also results in a foggy / haze all over the area of Dan Sai. As you also see in the photo taken at 6:30 in the morning.
