I did stay a night at Hotel Noir in Chiang Mai and when I walked into my room and saw the sink in the corner of the room I thought "Where is the toilet and shower?" as I did not see a shower or a door to a toilet. What the f&^$* did I book a hostel with shared bathroom? But then I started to look better, the entire corner of the room is dark (noir) and the door of the toilet is the same colour as the wall and you actually do not see the door in the wall. Like a secret door! Bingo I found the toilet! But no shower? Oops there is another door with a comfortable bathtub and a separate shower corner. I already loved this hotel! Be aware that not all rooms are the same.
Normally I always stay somewhere near Thapae Gate but I was in the mood for a change and thought of the trendy area of Nimman district. And it is actually a very nice area (although not much Northern Thai) with restaurants, hotels, shops and pubs. Recommended to have a look at Nimman One.
I liked my spacious room with a huge TV, mini-bar, free drinking water, air-conditioning, bathroom with bathtub & separate shower and in-room safe. Another thing I liked about this hotel is the friendly and personal service of the staff. And the Snack & Drink room, open 24h a day, where you can go free of charge for a drink and snack. Simple but good. So no breakfast here. And there is the Library room where you can sit, chat, play facebook or whatever you like. The hotel offers very limited parking and free bicycles. For more information have a look at their website Hotel Noir Chiang Mai. Highly recommended, I will be back here!
