In 2021 we did escape smoggy Nan province and did go to Hat Chao Lao beach in Chanthaburi province, along the Eastern Seaboard. We did stay at 2 different resorts, the first was Baan Pun Sook Resort. As we were traveling with our dog finding a pet friendly hotel was a bit difficult. Baan Pun Sook Resort is along the main road at Hat Chao Lao and about 350m from the beach, you are allowed to walk thru Baan Imm Sook Resort. Baan Pun Sook Resort is a bit older resort with about 5 wooden bungalows in a once nice garden but with nice big trees. All bungalows has private verandah, private bathroom with toilet and shower, TV, fridge and Air-conditioning. Baan Pun Sook Resort provides private parking but does not have a swimming pool (but you can use the swimming pool of Baan Imm Sook Resort free of charge). Breakfast can be used (not included) at Baan Imm Sook Resort but in front of Baan Pun Sook Resort is a nice coffee shop that serves a kind of breakfast.
We had booked this hotel in advance for 5 days and that was a bit of a mistake. It all looked good but there are a few things that made us not happy staying there. First of all there were a lot of mosquitos and the room was not mosquito proof, especially the bathroom. And the garden what must have been once a very nice garden was not taken care off, no garden lights and the garbage from the bungalows was collected in the middle of the garden. So after 3 days we left the hotel and moved to a better place (of course without refund of the last 2 days). For more information have a look at their website : Baan Pun Sook Resort. Photos here are not mine but from their facebook page and reflect reality more or less.
