Evening walk at Ong Ang Canal Market in Bangkok

Market at Ong Ang Canal in Bangkok

I love to explore Bangkok by foot so in the evening I took the MRT to Sam Yot station and within a short walking distance is the new Ong Ang Canal market. Until a few years ago Ong Ang was just a dirty canal (klong) but the government of Bangkok has changed it into a nice place to visit in the evening to experience the Bangkokian's lifestyle from the past to the present with Chinese and Indian groups of people who have been making a living in Bangkok since more as 100 years ago. Ong Ang Canal Market is open on Friday to Sunday from 16:00 until 22:00. But also at other days the place is visited by people as there are few nice restaurants. The canal itself can be used to go with a kayak but most people come for eating and buying souvenirs of cloths. And there are some nice murals as street-art. Highly recommend to visit in the evening. Following are some photos I took, click on the photos to enlarge.
