I did take the train from Bangkok to Mae Klong and this train ride did start at Wong Yai train station in Bangkok. I love traveling by train, especially in Thailand where it is like traveling in time. It is like an open-air museum. Not only the trains itself but also the train stations. They look like they have not changed since they build the first railroad lines in Thailand in 1889. Wong Yai train station, is the terminus station of the railroad between Wong Yai and Maha Chai. This line is not connected to any other railroad lines. It was once constructed as private cargo line to transport sea products to Bangkok. Click on the label Train Market to see all postings about going to the famous train market.
I did take the BTS to BTS station Wong Yai and did walk to Wong Yai train station with the help of Google Maps. But be aware that the train station is all build in and located at what seems to be a small street (soi) from the main road. So from the main road it does not seem to be a train station. At the train station is also a small market and there are 2 small coffee shops.
This travelogue follows my traveling in Thailand (and beyond) with in between information that might help you when traveling in Thailand. If you are interested to visit Bangkok or any other place in Thailand and need some information then feel free to contact me by email at The Little Elephant Traveling in Thailand.
