I did take the train from Bangkok to Mae Klong. But this railroad is in Samut Sakhon interrupted by the Tha Chin River. So the last station is Maha Chai in Samut Sakhon and from there you have to walk about 500m to a pier to take the ferry crossing the Tha Chin River (the Chinese Port River). And at Tha Chalon you will have to walk about 950m to Ban Leam train station for the second part of the train ride to Mae Klong. Click on the label Train Market to see all postings about going to the famous train market.
We took the 7:40 train from Wong Yai and arrived about 8:40 in Maha Chai. Then we took the ferry to the other side and a samlor to Ban Leam train station. At about 9:00 we were at Ban Leam. But the next train leaves at 10:10, so instead of spending your time on the train station you could explore the old town of Tha Chalom. See the map on the last photo below.
