Yes in Thailand we are living 543 ahead of the western year of 2023, although actually the Thai New Year is in mid April with the water festival Songkran. As Thai people love a party there are in Thailand many new years. First of all the Thai New Year and the Western New Year, followed by the Chinese New Year (end of January this year with the Year of the Rabbit). But also many ethnic minorities like the Hmong celebrate their new year at a slightly different date (mostly mid December). So that means at every village are Ram Wong parties with a dancing stage and sexy dancing girls. And you can buy a ticket to dance with the girls. The money is used for the village.
In the meanwhile the cool season that started begin December is still going on and is forecasted to continue until end of January. Here up north in the mountains of Doi Phu Kha in Nan province that means "cold" nights and cool days. I love it! So if you are traveling in Thailand then go to North Thailand and best go to Pua in Nan province.
Photo above is romantic life along the Wat Phumin in Nan town. Following are some photo from last year. Click on the photo to enlarge.
