On reconmendation of a friend we had a drink & bite at Longsier Cafe in Udon Thani town. Again you will need your own transport because it is located in a suburb of Udon Thani town. And wow that recommendation was rightfully correct. The best cakes I have eaten in a long time. Longsier Cafe situated in a beautiful modern style building with mostly indoor seating and some limited outdoor seating in the inner court. There is private parking and you can have your private room for a party.
We had 2 delicious cakes, 1 perfect ice coffee and 1 pot of earl-grey tea. Total price was about 650 Thai baht. A bit expensive considering we are not in Europe or even a top-location in Thailand. But what bothers me a bit is the fashion in this kind of places to give you a beeper so you can pickup your order yourself. I would think at this level gastronomy table service is mandatory.
