While riding motorbike in Northern Thailand I did stay a night in Chiang Mai, while it has become a too busy city for me I had to be there for reasons beyond logic. I did choose to stay at Casa Vespa at Wua Lai Boutique Hotel. Located just outside the real center of Chiang Mai town, but within walking distance from restaurants and shop. Actually I did stay in this hotel a few years ago and I liked it very much. They nice thing is they have private parking and they are not so expensive. And I booked room only as I would have a delicious breakfast at a French bakery.
I did stay in a Superior Room as I did find the Suite Room not worth the extra money. But I might have better done that. The superior rooms are really small and the bathroom is even smaller (but with a good hot shower). But besides that wear & tear is showing everywhere in the hotel. In the hall-ways, the stairs and in the room. Many small damages on the walls & furniture and a bit dirty air-con, etc. Be aware also that this hotel of course does not have a swimming pool. That all said, my remarks are very personal and within a good promotion others might not have any problems staying here.

Bottom Line : Although friendly staff and good location it is not my cup of tea anymore.
