While making a motorbike trip on my Kawasaki Z250 in Northern Thailand I stayed a night at the lovely little town of Chiang Saen, located along the not so mighty anymore Mekong River. I love this little town, that still has the vibes of 20 years ago. The all town is littered with history in the form of remains of centuries old temples when Chiang Saen was a "big" city. I did choose to stay at Gin's Greenery Resort, right along the banks of the Mekong River. This little hotel has 14 rooms in the main building and 4 bungalows (called villa's) in the tropical garden. There is private parking, a coffee shop & restaurant and a swimming pool.
All staff is friendly and service minded, the rooms are modern decorated, comfortable and clean. They serve a simple but good breakfast buffet in the coffee shop annex restaurant. From where you have a stunning sunrise view over the Mekong River. But there were a few things that were disappointing for me. First of all the somewhat small bathroom with a shower almost at the toilet. I hate this to have totally wet bathroom. Then the wifi was not very stable and on top of that in the rooms downstairs (where I was staying) there is no AIS telephone signal. That means you are switching to Lao telephone signal. Mind your telephone costs! Another small thing is that all lights in my room were bright white TL light colour. I also hate that. My complaints are very personal and other people might not have a problem with it and enjoy their stay.

Bottom line : Although all nice looking accommodation it is not my cup of tea.
