Pranburi is a district within Prachuap Khiri Khan province and is located just south of Hua Hin. Pranburi district stretches from the Gulf of Thailand to the border of Myanmar. And south of Pranburi disctrict is Sam Roi Yot district. Pranburi town is along route 4, but most people visiting Pranburi will go the coast. But be aware the beaches here are not the kind of White Sand & Crystal Clear Sea. Most beaches have a beach road and accommodation & restaurants are not on the beach-side. And at most places the beach is not more as a 5 meter wide. Also be aware that there is no public transport, traveling with your own transport is highly recommended. But at some places you rent scooters.
Also be aware at the beaches of Pranburi you will see many stray dogs, they will not bother you but if you have a dog with you then you might have to be careful.
From north to south the beaches are
- Pak Nam Pran Beach, a small “private beach” without any accommodation. It looks to be part of a National Park Zone ??
- Pranburi Beach, first part north of the Pranburi River with very limited accommodation (also called Khao Tao Beach). Then a part south of the Pranburi River, where are more & luxury accommodations. But still also all parts without anything as a few trees.
- Khao Kalok Beach, actually part of the same bay of Pranburi Beach, here are more & luxury accommodation and restaurants. Great place for skite surfing and actually one of the best beach parts of Pranburi.
- Koung Sai Beach (Sandy Beach), a small beach that is only accessible by boat or a walking trail via Khao Kalok.
The main town along the coast (for both Pranburi & Sam Roi Yot) is Ban Pak Nam Pran, at the mouth of the Pranburi River. Here you will find 7-11, Lotus, fresh market and all other shops.
