Train Station in Thailand, next station Makkasan

Makkasan Station, Bangkok

Makkasan Railway-station is a small-medium station along the Eastern Line in Bangkok. It is located between Khlong Tan Station and Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong). I did pass this station while taking a commuter train from Pattaya to Hua Lamphong main-station in Bangkok. It is amazing that in modern Bangkok, this other world still exists. All photos were taken in 2024.

Although Makkasan is actually an insignificant railway-station, it is bigger as the other small stations as behind it used to be the State Railways Thailand train-depot & repair service. It is a huge plot of land in the middle of Bangkok that is slated to be turn into shopping malls and condos. I will have to visit it soon before it is lost in time.

I love traveling by train, especially in Thailand where it is like traveling in time. It is like an open-air museum. Not only the trains itself but especially the train stations. They look like they have not changed since they build the first railroad lines in Thailand in 1889. I made a serie of train stations under the tag TRAIN STATIONS. Let's visit them before they will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
