Ban Pak Nai is a very small village in Na Muen district, about 100 km south of Nan town, along the banks of the Queen Sirikit Lake (part of the Nan River). It looks like time did forget this place and it will disappear in the near future. It may appear as not much special but actually it is a great experience and a part of real upcountry Thailand that still exists in some hidden corners of provinces like Nan. Ban Pak Nai is the place to cross the Queen Sirikit Lake by old fashioned ferry.

At the Northern side of the Queen Sirikit Lake is the village Pak Nai but the ferry landing site on the other side is also considered to be Ban Pak Nai and also within Nan province. But at that side nobody is living except the owner of the one and only floating restaurant there.

What to do in Ban Pak Nai?
The main attraction of Ban Pak Nai is it being a picturesque fishing village with floating house boats. You can make a beautiful sunset or sunrise boat tour over the lake, go fishing or take the ferry to the other side. The ferry is operated by the locals and there seems to be no schedule. Just ask and wait, time plays no role here. The ferry can take people, motorbikes, cars and even an small truck.
